Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said
Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said, is an excellent novel, that deals with the fluid nature of reality and what it means to be actually alive.  Also, it examines a possible future where America has become a dystopian police state.  This story had a hypnotizing plot, that while twisted, was still easy to comprehend(well, easy is perhaps a misnomer; it is Philip K. Dick :P), and I found the novel...

Thought of the day 03/26/11
I am an individual, like you, afraid.  Unlike you(perhaps, perhaps not), I have spent my life trying to distance myself from other people, other experiences, anything that could bring failure, embarrassment, shame, pain.  I’ve been drifting through my life in reality, living in an elaborate fantasy world in which everything is right, wonderful, and proper.  That’s not a joke, or a...

Don't be afraid(or something)
Fear can make you do more wrong than hate or jealousy.  If you’re afraid you don’t commit yourself to life completely.  Fear makes you always, always hold something back. You shouldn’t be alone.  It’s killing you; it’s undermining you.  All the time, every day, you should be somewhere with people. - Philip K. Dick, Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said

More Than Human(and thoughts on Odd John)
More Than Human is a novel about superhuman people that are also damaged(in various ways), who come together to form one super-being(referred to as Homo Gestalt in the novel).  To me, it read very much like a response to Olaf Stapledon’s Odd John.  Odd John was also about odd(not necessarily damaged, just strange) people who were superhuman who sought each other ought and formed their own...

NOLA
My sister is in NOLA, getting drunk on Bourbon St. during Spring Break.  I’m so proud *single tear*  I just hope she doesn’t accept tequila from strangers. :\

Starship Troopers Review
Starship Troopers…pissed me off.  What little plot it has serves as a soapbox for Heinlein to preach macho, warhawk, militaristic, fascist, misogynist tripe.  To his credit, the book flows well, is written with appreciable skill, and does have some plot, but those are about the only nice things I can come up with to say about this novel.  I think the part of the novel that found most...

Thought of the Day 03/13/11
Many adults have problems with work, or relationships, or money, and feel like there isn’t a way out.  When you’re young, most problems can be solved by applying time - there’s always time to deal with your problems in the future.  You’re full of so much potential, and it seems ridiculous that there could be a problem you can’t overcome.  When you become an adult...

Things that I like:
- Science Fiction: Novels, especially Isaac Asimov and Arthur C. Clarke TV, espeically Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, Firefly, Farscape, TNG, DS9, and Lost. Movies:  Mostly just Star Wars & 2001.  Alien was good.  I can’t stand Blade Runner, though.  I’m still working on seeing a bunch more science fiction movies that I will probably like(I’m uh, delinquent on movies. ...
